Common questions

What do I need to play?

Reel & Merge runs on iPhone and iPad. It's played in portrait, works entirely offline, and needs no sign-up of any kind.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no login, and no internet connection — open the app and you're at the water.

How do I play?

Tap CAST (it costs one bait), then tap again when the marker crosses the timing bar's golden sweet spot. Your catch flies onto the merge board below — drag matching fish together and they grow into something bigger. New species stamp the Fish-o-dex, and dex milestones pay coins and unlock the pets on your dock.

I'm out of bait — now what?

Bait refills on its own over time, even while the app is closed. You can also refill it instantly with coins. Nothing expires and nothing punishes you for putting the game down — that's the point.

Some dex slots say the fish only bites after dark. How do I fish at night?

The pond has its own day and night. Wait for evening, or open Settings (the gear) and pin the time of day to whenever you like — night fish bite whenever the pond is dark.

How do I get to the other ponds?

Save up coins for a travel chart in the pond shop. Once you own one, the TRAVEL button sails you between the forest pond, the Pirate Cove, and the Alien Sea — each with its own fish chain and its own dex page.

Where is my progress stored?

On your device. Coins, bait, your fish collection, pets, and pond upgrades are saved locally and never sent anywhere. There is no cloud sync of progress, so deleting the app deletes your pond. See the Privacy Policy — it's short.

Are there ads or purchases?

No. Reel & Merge is free, with no ads and nothing to buy. If that ever changes, the game and this site will say so plainly first.
